Disneyworld…Closed?!

With the Corona Virus attacking the US everything has been closing for the safety of our people, and to contain this spreading virus. Unfortunately for us Disney lovers one of our worst fears has now come true. Walt Disney parks have closed to help stop the spread of COVID-19. What is the COVID-19? For anyone who might be unaware it is a virus brought to us by China. While we may still be uncertain of it’s origins, we do know that it is dangerous and that we must take proper precautions to stay safe.

While we are quarantined all we want is a little magic to keep us sane. Delivery services have been working their hardest to help get our needed supplies to us, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t order some of our favorites from the Disney store!

In the midst of all the chaos that is staying home and not socializing, we have Disney. It is important to remember Disney’s magic now more than ever! Walt would have been concerned for all of us I am sure, but he would tell us that we must use our minds and stay creative, because using our minds to think is all different than using our minds to create. Now could be a perfect time to try something new! Discover were your true passions are! Take “Oh My Disney” quizzes to find out what Disney sidekick you are, or one of their many other quizzes!

Now is the time to share our passions much like Disney did, show the world what we are made of and why we are important. While the happiest place in the world literally may be closed, it will never close in our hearts and we will never have to look for the magic in the magic kingdom because it was the magic inside ourselves that is awakening!

Disney Plus is also making some of it’s newer movies available for our enjoyment! It started with the early release of Frozen 2 and we will soon see Onward make it’s way to Disney Plus by April 3rd! Be on the lookout for new movies coming to Disney Plus as well as movies that had release dates pushed back because of theater shut downs across the US.

It is important now more than ever to be here for each other in this strange time of containment. Want me to write more about movies that had release dates pushed back? Disney’s Legacy Today

Let’s get straight to the good stuff! As I mentioned in my last post, Disney had a passion like no other. He had wanted to create joy for those around him. Thus The Walt Disney Company was born! Initially he did this to make movies and share his movies and short films, but he wanted a place that entrapped the happiness that his movies conveyed. It was because of this dream of Walt’s that Disneyland was created.

Disneyland first opened in July of 1955. Finances for the park proved to be difficult to come by. It wasn’t until ABC cut a deal to produce a weekly show as well as take in a portion of the park profits. And thus the ABC/Disney relationship was born. Construction for Disneyland Park started in 1955. The themed areas originally opened in Disneyland were Main Street, U.S.A., evoking a Midwestern American town at the turn of the 20th century; Fantasyland, based partly on stories from Disney animated features; Adventureland, a jungle-themed area; Frontierland, featuring the Mark Twain Riverboat; and Tomorrowland, an optimistic vision of the future. And as we have come to know, Disney often enjoyed to think about the future.

Parks aside, we have all seen at least one or two or even all of the Disney movies. Something you may not have known is that today Disney own many movie producing companies. So now along with their own movies from Disney Animation, they own ABC, ESPN, Touchstone Pictures, Marvel, Lucasfilm, A&E, The History Channel, Lifetime, Pixar, Hollywood Records, Vice Media, and Core Publishing. Would Walt be proud of all of these companies that his company controls? Would he be upset? Most of his viewings tend to say that he was really there to continue making magic and that that was all he truly wanted to do. Personally, I think Disney would be beside himself, and very disappointed in how industry the company has become.

While the magic of the movies and parks prompts us to come back and continue watching and listening, we are missing the values that Walt had built this company on. His goals of the company being family-oriented were accomplished, although at what cost to his workers now. Nowadays it has shown difficult to create these extraordinary movies, where a normal animated movie timeline can take up to 4-7 years, the company is being demanded movies and sequels and its because of this that we do lose some of the creativity that enchants our minds in viewing these films that we come to love.

With the example of Frozen versus Frozen 2, while both show to be amazing animated films, there is one scene in Frozen 2 that I personally fell may have been rushed in production, or maybe just not entirely thought through. Kristoff has a song he sings called “Lost in the Woods,” it is an amazing song! But you can tell that the animation for the song may have been rushed. The piecing of it together reminds me of an old music video that doesn’t have a plot. Ultimately music videos tend to have a story that they follow, and while the song paints it out for us, and there are bits and pieces of the animation that seem coherent, there are fillers that show the reindeer with a black background singing. To me, this seems lazy, and not thought through. This film Kristoff very much seemed to become a side character and the most we see him on screen is during this song, so why don’t they do him justice? The only explanation I can come up with is that the animators were given an unrealistic deadline and couldn’t give this scene the proper time to make it excellent.

Therefore I believe that Walt wouldn’t be pleased with how the company has become so industry controlled. I do however think that he would love the work that the animation studio is doing, although he might agree that with time the film would grow and become better. Animated films are almost like fine wines, the longer you give yourself to work on it, the better it will come out. A good example of this is the Pixar film Incredibles 2. Drop a comment below and let me know what you think! Do you agree that Disney has become an industry run company? or not? Comment too what you think I should write in the future!

Freeze! Was Walt Really Frozen?

In my last post you got to know a little bit about Walt Elis Disney. After Walt’s death many conspiracies came up, including theories that he was frozen to hopefully come back one day. Let’s figure out if this was true or not.

Now to learn the truth. We must consider any medical issues he had at the time that could have affected his health. Walt was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1966, the very year that he died. It was December 17th of ’66 that he was cremated and interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

While he left a legacy for the ages, a rumor started that his body is suspended in a frozen state and buried deep beneath the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, waiting for the day when medical science would be advanced enough to bring the great animator back. His stories will live on forever, he unfortunately will not. The rumors were fueled by Disney fans that struggled to accept his death as well as deeply admired his fascination with the future.

Disney had a passion of no other. He knew what he wanted out of life and although he had struggled for it for years as he was establishing his company, he was able to accomplish all he wanted and more. Walt was able to achieve the making of something bigger than he ever thought possible. Now we are left to wonder if he would be proud of what the Walt Disney Company is today. Would he be pleased with how it has flourished? Or would he be disgusted of it’s now corporate control. Let me know in the comments what you think Walt would say about his company today! And come back next week for more as we explore what the Walt Disney Company has become today!

Who was Walt Elias Disney?

We’ve gotta start somewhere in the search of Walt Disney, so why not his start to fame? The first ever animation came from the short film, “Steam Boat Willie.” This short came from a ton of drawings pieced together, kinda like a really really big flip book.

Walter Elias Disney was a huge inspiration to many people with his creation of “Steam Boat Willie,” however that wasn’t his only success as he grew as an entertainer and an artist. Walt would go on to win many awards, especially when his first animated feature film came to theaters, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” although it took everything he was to work his way to the point he was at.

Most of the time when we hear about Walt, we hear about how his success, but what you may have not known is that Walt had four siblings, three brothers and one sister. Being a family of seven, money was tight, so the boys all had to sell newspapers year round to help make money. Elias Disney, Walt’s father, was strict with his boys, as most fathers in this day were. So needless to say, he wasn’t supportive of Walt’s artistic hobbies growing up.

As Walt became a man, he found that he could not live without art, he went on to have gotten some of the greatest accomplishments an animator could get. He won 23 Oscars for films such as, “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Bloom,” “The Living Desert,” and “The Alaskan Eskimo.” He was also a nominee for 28 other Oscars as well.

Many people believe that Walt was a great man and many wonder if he was ever frozen so that he might be able to come back one day. There are many theories that tell us that Walt was frozen, some say that it was just his head! Come back soon for another article that answers conspiracies behind the Disney family and find out whether or not Walt will come back for good!
